Coorg is a hill station located on the Western Ghats and a very popular tourist destination
thanks to its cool refreshing air and lush, expansive greenery
The Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Somwarpet and is home to many rare and indigenous species of wildlife and avian life. Proposed as a World Heritage Site the sanctuary also boasts the second highest peak in Coorg after Todiyamol, as well as the Kadamakkal Reserve Forest which is located within.
Acknowledged worldwide as an important site for the preservation of avian life and an Important Bird Area, a wide variety of endangered bird species can be found at the sanctuary like the Nilgiri Flycatcher, the Grey Breasted Laughing Thrush, as well as the Malabar Parakeet and the Grey Hornbill
